About Modal verb
I want to discuss about modal auxiliary verb with example.
Modal Verb is a type of auxiliary verb and express ability,
possibility, permission, obligation.
Modal auxiliary verb are total 10
1. ‘May’ used
as a Polite Request, e.g. May I help you?
2. ‘Must’ used
as a compulsory or enforcement. e.g. you
must do it.
3. ‘Might’ is
past form of ‘may’ express enforcement. e,g. might is right. I might see you tomorrow.
4. ‘shall’ used
in future tense as a suggestion, obligation. e.g. you shall obey the rules.
5. ‘Should’
used as a advice. e.g. You should learn English.
6. ‘ought to’ as
a advice. e.g. You ought to listen carefully.
7. ‘Can’ used as a possibility, ability, request and permission. e.g. You can do it. Can I do it?
8. Could used in past tense as a possibility, ability and request.
e,g. I could swim when I was 5 years old.
9. ‘Will’ used
as a desire and determination, e.g. I will accept your offer. I will pass my
driving test.
10. ‘Would’ is
used as a performance. e.g. I would like tea. They could come by car.
